Bali, the island of the Gods. The moment you enter this island, you feel there’s something ‘in the air’, a mystic feeling, a special energy vibe. This small Hindu Island in Indonesia is known by its friendly people, beautiful nature, rich culture and interesting traditions. It made us feel home immediately and that’s why a planned stay of 1 month, became a stay of over 1 year!
The Daily Life
Bali is having small and narrow roads, which makes using a car not very convenient and fast. Way more fun is using a motorbike. It’s makes you able to see and experience the daily life of the Balinese. You can enjoy the sun and the cool island breeze. You can smell the burned incense and rice fields. It makes you able to say hi to all the welcoming and smily faces of the kids. And soon you will fall in love with everything Bali has to offer.
When you are in Bali, even if it’s just for a few days, for sure you’ll experience one of the many ceremonies. While walking on the street or riding you motorbike, the changes of getting stuck between a ceremony parade is big. The Balinese celebrate birth, life, dead and nature in beautiful ways. The main religion on the island is the Balinese Hinduism.
Balinese Hinduism, the indigenous beliefs manifest in the belief that nature is “power” and each element is subject to influence from spirits. Ancestor worship is also a part of the beliefs. Spirits and ancestors are treated with respect, and they are housed in a shrine and feted with offerings made from agricultural products.
One of the most important and special ceremonies is the Balinese New Year. This is a 3-day ceremony, consisting of Melasti, the Ogo-Ogo parade and Silence Day.

Bali took a special place in our hearts, thats one thing for sure. We made lots of new friends, we would love to meet again. Bali makes you feel alive, relaxed and very fortunate. It fits our lifestyle perfectly.
